Counting push-ups with the camera: placement and limits

A camera does not “know” that you have trained: it estimates body positions from images. This is why an actual repetition may not register, or a reading may be brought forward. These are the practical factors that matter most in MoveRift.

The phone must be in front of you

MoveRift is designed to use the iPhone in front of the player. For push-ups, the counter focuses on the movement of flexion and extension of the elbows. Make sure that both arms remain within the frame throughout the gesture and avoid letting a hand or furniture hide the elbow. Moving the phone too far away reduces detail; Getting it too close can cut the joints.

Before playing, check the preview to see that the main move is visible from start to finish. A stable surface helps keep the camera from moving with each repetition. There is no need to record or send a video to obtain the count: the analysis happens on the iPhone itself.

Why a pushup may not be counted

If the counter fails, pause and adjust the framing or lighting first. Do not speed up or exaggerate a movement to “convince” the software. Scoring is a game mechanic, not a clinical evaluation or reliable measure of fitness.

Push-ups in and out of the arcade

In Tower Up you can use a pushup to place a block. In exercise routes, repetitions help to complete progressive levels. Online duels compare scores between two players for a limited time; Camera images are not shared with the rival. If you prefer another movement that day, games and routes offer alternatives such as squats and jumps.

Exercise only in a safe environment and within your means. If you have health concerns or feel pain, stop and consult a qualified professional.
